National Tree Day 2008

National Tree Day 2008 is a time of year where you can help the planet by planting trees. Last year was a huge success, Planet Ark estimates that over 1 million native plants were planted. This year we hope to do even better so get your gear on, grab a tree and get growing! To see what we got up to last year, click here.

Sat 26th July (9am - 12pm) Enviro Open Day

Overview         

  • Tree planting is a challenge with water restrictions, as such we are proposing a Environmental awareness day
  • It is envisaged the open day would have the following displays:              
    • Toyota Prius and Promo Trailer with BBQ              
    • Councils Waste Van, with their Recycle, Worm Farm and house hold recycling initiatives              
    • TAFE's Horticulture departments showing courses and careers              
    • Other traders complementary to open day

 

Sun 26th July (9am - 12pm) Park to Park sponsored run

  • As per last year we will be having a team in the park to park fun run

 

Sun 17th August (11am - 1pm) Ipswich Kindy Tree Planting Day / Fun run

Overview

  • The Kindy is situated near the council nursery. The plan is over 100 kindy kids and parents run to the nursery get the plants and run back to the Kindy with the plants.
  • The TAFE have kindly supported by planning and guiding the process to ensure high level of success
  • It is envisaged that the kids will "Adopt" a tree to see it grow
